Job Seeker FAQ

FPC of Raleigh has compiled this list of common questions to help assist you in the process of working with us. If you have any questions that are not contained in this page, please contact us.

Do I have to pay to work with FPC?
No, FPC of Raleigh recruiters are compensated by hiring companies to locate the best talent in the industry.

Will my recruiter write my resume?
There are professional resume writers that can help you put together your resume. Your FPC recruiter will guide you on any edits that will highlight your skills and experience best for a given position.  Whether you apply for a position on your own or through FPC of Raleigh, you should tailor your resume for each position.

Will the recruiter send my resume to companies without telling me first?
No, an FPC of Raleigh recruiter always discusses any job opportunities with you before presenting your background to a client.  This is important for many reasons, among which is protecting your privacy and making sure that we only introduce you to clients who do not already have your resume.  Please let us know where else you have already sent your resume to avoid duplication and create more efficiency in your job search.

My employer does not know I am looking and I have confidentiality concerns.  What do you do to protect my privacy?
FPC of Raleigh recruiters have a very clear confidentiality code.  We conduct many confidential searches for clients and we work with many clients who are currently employed and require discreet job searches.  We have procedures in place to make sure you are protected.

How long will it take to find me a job?
Recruiters work on behalf of the companies to search for talent to enhance their teams. So, when you come to a recruiter in response to a job we represent, the recruiter will assess your background and skills to see if they may be a good match for the position.  If they are, the recruiter will contact you to discuss your background in greater detail before presenting you to the client. After the initial presentation, the steps and length of recruitment time will vary from client to client.

In the event that you are not a good fit for that particular position, your resume will be kept in the event another client seeks someone with your skills and experience.

I’ve never worked with a recruiter before, what can I expect?
Working with a recruiter will make the job search process smoother.  They are knowledgeable about the industry, the hiring company and the recruiting process and are able to guide you every step of the way.

Once your background has been presented to a client and they have expressed interest in learning more about you, your FPC of Raleigh recruiter will go through that client’s hiring process with you.  For some, it’s a phone interview followed by a number of face-to-face interviews with the company and for others, it’s right on to the face-to-face meetings.

Your FPC of Raleigh recruiter will act as an intermediary to represent both you and the company’s best interest throughout the hiring and negotiating process.  You must be honest with your recruiter about your job responsibility and salary expectations so you can be accurately represented resulting in a win-win situation.

Why is it helpful to work with a recruiter?
Recruiters spend their days building a broad and thorough network in your industry.  Because of this, they have access to jobs and hiring managers you cannot access on your own.  Often, FPC of Raleigh recruiters are engaged to work on confidential searches that are not public.  Equally important is FPC of Raleigh’s role as an intermediary in the negotiations.  Both parties are free to be open and up front about their needs and expectations during the process.
